The Radium Girls by Kate Moore.
I thought this book was about something else, but I am so glad I read it! I want to read more about the women who worked on The Manhattan Project and I thought The Radium Girls was about them, but it’s about women who painted radium on watch and clock dials in the 1920s-30s. I was so surprised that I had never heard their story before. All of them were sickened with radium poisoning and as they fought for help, they changed the way the world handles toxic ingredients. This is a well-told story that should be read by all!
