Eight stories are woven together through time by one special rock in Treasures. A shamrock shaped rock that first finds itself in the hands of St. Patrick eventually becomes a key item in several people’s stories throughout the ages and even into the future. Steven Curtis Chapman is a well-known Christian musician. I have been listening to his music for more than 20 years. He and his wife, Mary Beth, had three children and then adopted three more children from China. Then, the whole world heard that their family suffered a tragic accident – one of their sons hit and killed one of their daughters when she ran in front of his truck. They had to find ways to grieve and lean on each other, all while taking care of the son who was living through a very traumatic event. I enjoy reading historical fiction and When Jesus Wept was a good read in that genre. It reminded me that the characters in the Bible for Christians were real people and had so much more details to their lives than we know from the Bible stories. Parenting is not easy. There are so many parenting books out there that give advice on what to do and say (or not do and say), but not many address the heart and attitude of a parent. Love-Centered Parenting does focus on having parents take a hard look at their own motivations and encourages them to both evaluate they lies they believe about themselves and then replace them with the truth of being loved by God.
