I’m being more intentional with what I read this year. So far, so good. I’m really enjoying making sure I’m reading a variety of books each month. I’ve also found I’m reading more so I can reach my goals. In the past, I would usually just grab a book from my to-read pile or start reading what is available from my hold list on Overdrive. Instead, I am going to choose a fiction, historical, biographical, inspirational and classic to read each month and then after I have read those five, I can read whatever I find that’s available. I will also have book club books to read from a moms group and the online book club on this site. Oh, and there are the advanced copies I receive to review. Lots of reading going on here!

Fiction: The Cold Dish by Craig Johnson
I’ve been watching Longmire on Netflix and this is one of the books the series is based on – the first novel in the Walt Longmire Mystery Series.
Historical: Dreamers and Deceivers: True Stories of the Heroes and Villains who Made America by Glenn Beck
I read Glenn Beck’s other historical short story book Miracles and Massacres and learned some very interesting parts of American history that I have never heard of before, like the war between Edison and Westinghouse, which led me to read The Last Days of Night by Graham Moore.
Biographical: The Berlin Candy Bomber by Gail S. Halvorsen
This is the story of the Berlin Candy Bomber written by the Berlin Candy Bomber. It’s an interesting part of history and I’m looking forward to all I’ll learn about it.
Inspirational: Resisting Happiness by Matthew Kelly
This book was given to us at church at Christmas. I’ve read some Matthew Kelly books and have listened to his podcasts and am looking forward to reading this one. (Plus, isn’t the cover neat?)
Classic: Voyage of the Dawn Treader by C.S. Lewis
I am reading through the Narnia series with my children. We have read The Magician’s Nephew, The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe and Prince Caspian.

I don’t know much about this book at all, but the person who chose it for our book club has very good tastes in books, so it should be a good one.
