In A Different Time, Keith Nolan is on a quest to find the last few comic books that will complete his X-men collection. His father started the collection and passed it along to him. However, his parents died in a car accident when he was 14 and the comic collection is one of his last ties to them. When he finds the last comic, he finds a small camcorder tape in the box and takes it home to see what is on it. Little does he know that his entire life’s focus will change once he views the tape.

When Keith views the video, he sees a young woman named Lindsey and she can hear when he talks. They are somehow – across space and time – allowed to communicate even though Lindsey is recording the tapes 30 years in the past. Lindsey is trying to find what path she should take in life while Keith goes on a quest to find the rest of her tapes. As they talk more, there is a connection between them that neither can deny. But how can they overcome their distance?

While technically a sci-fi book since their communication is a type of time travel, ultimately, A Different Time is a love story. It was well-written and very sweet. I was even surprised by how the book ended – it won’t be what you expect!
