While COVID-19 put a damper on all the summer book events I had scheduled (the last one I had on the calendar just got cancelled), I do have some exciting news to share about how things are progressing as a author for a few of my books.
The publisher of The Ring, BlkDog Publishing, has signed with a book distributor! This means in about a month, The Ring will no longer just be print on demand, but can be requested to be stocked in bookstores! I know my local Barnes and Noble and Books-a-Million stores needed The Ring to be part of a book distribution for it to be stocked there. Now, I can request it and do book signings at those stores!
For those who are waiting, there is still no firm word on when or if the audiobook will be created for The Ring. I will keep you posted!
I’m hoping to have a young adult dystopian book published this year. It is currently being reviewed by an agent that I talked with at the online Cincinnati Writing Workshop! If she likes it, it may take a while before a publisher says yes. If she passes, I plan to go with a smaller publisher who could publish it this year. Right now, it’s called Life After.
The young adult fantasy book I have contracted to be published in 2021 has a cover! I don’t want to reveal it yet, but I really like it! Orphan Wish Island will be sent back to me for edits in the next month or so and I’m looking forward to getting it to its final stages.
I have one more novel written as a rough draft that I finished during April while we were home all the time. It’s a contemporary women’s fiction novel mostly set in Alaska currently called Heart’s True North. I’ll work on editing that in the fall and then I think the next books I’ll work on are a young adult series with military “brats” as the main characters. I’ve started sketching out the characters and timeline.
I do hope for the times when book signings and author fairs are rescheduled. In the mean time, I will keep at it – writing is my passion!
