More than halfway through January and I’ve added more than 8,000 words to my current novel! I have been aiming to write at least 500 words every day but Sundays and I’ve only missed a few days. (Sometimes other things in life take precedence …)
I’m writing a fun, Christmas romance set in the city we live near – Springfield, Ohio! It’s fun to set the story in places that are familiar to me. Although, it’s going to be hard to decide what places not to include.

The story takes place over November and December, so I had to take the time to make up a calendar. I want to make sure I get the days/dates right as I’m writing so I don’t have to take editing time to fix that part.
I’ve even been able to go out a few times and write at either Panera or Winans, a local coffee shop. It’s easier to write longer passages when I’m out of the house so there are fewer distractions.
If I can ask, what do you enjoy in a holiday romance book? What’s a must for you to consider a book to be a holiday book? I would love to hear your answer in the comments 🙂
