As we got ready on day two, we took in the huge graveyard that surrounded our hotel in Long Island. The graves were put together so closely, it must have felt like being packed in like sardines. We got a Lyft to the train station and then took the train in to Grand Central Station. We headed to Times Square to get something from Carlo’s Bakery for breakfast. There were small tables set up outside, so we ate while taking in the Times Square morning atmosphere.
We wanted to attend mass at St. Patrick’s Cathedral so we started walking that way, stopping in the largest Sephora store and a Barnes & Noble. We had time to walk around the cathedral for a few minutes before mass started. The priest had a really good sermon about faith. We found a place to eat lunch afterwards and then headed to one of the highlights on our trip – Wicked on Broadway.
I had seen Wicked years ago but my daughter hadn’t yet. We had plans to see it in 2020 but then COVID closed everything down. We both cried three times during the show. It was phenomenal and the storyline is so good! We didn’t want it to end!
For dinner, we went to a restaurant where the servers are people who also perform in Broadway shows. They didn’t have any reservations left, but we got two seats at the bar after only waiting five minutes. We got dessert just to stay longer and hear them sing. There’s at least one person singing every 10 minutes and their voices are stunning. It was almost like going to another show.
We decided to walk back to Grand Central Station, but to go to the main entrance because when we got there in the morning, all we saw was the escalators taking us up to the street. Along the way, we stopped for a few at the red stairs at Times Square and then found a dance party taking place at Bryant Park. We danced for a bit and then went to find the library lions. Grand Central Station was amazing and I’m glad we took the time to find the main entrance. We got some ice cream after taking it all in and then got on our train to go back for the night.
