Our last day in NYC started out with finding Bluestone Lane coffee after taking the train in. After that, we got to MoMA just as it was opening. We headed to the top and worked our way down. We wanted to see Van Gogh’s Starry Night and it was impressive. However, we were more in awe over the large Monet paintings of water lilies that they have. We also saw some Picasso and Frida Kahlo works.
When we were done, we headed to Central Park to eat hot dogs for lunch there. We then searched for and found the Alice in Wonderland statue. It was next to a really pretty pond. It’s quite a bit statue. While deciding what to do next, my daughter suggested we try to find the Night at the Museum exhibits at the Museum of Natural History. It was just on the other side of Central Park, so away we went. We found a list on their Web site and took pictures with all the displays they had there, including the “Dum Dum wants gum gum” statue.
We walked along the west side of Central Park south to Columbus Circle. We stopped in some shops and got croissants at a cute bakery along the way. In Columbus Circle, we saw the Columbus statue and the Trump Hotel. We headed toward Grand Central Station but stopped in Times Square to visit Hershey World and get pizza for dinner. We finished our shopping. I bought an “I Heart NYC” pin to add to my travel backpack (I had also bought a pin from Wicked that says “Defying Gravity”). Then, it was time to head back to our hotel for the night.
We had several hours to kill at the airport the next day since we were flying standby again. La Guardia is a nice airport with several good restaurants and a nice seating area in the center with a fountain. The water flows from the ceiling and music plays and things are projected onto the water. It was a bit mesmerizing. Our flight was smooth and before we knew it, we were back home.
